Savrasov and Silence
The project sets works from different periods in poetic dialogue with the art of Alexei Savrasov, through visual and emotional affinities. Visitors trace how his ideas unfold in the work of later Russian artists, as landscape gradually claimed a full place in the hierarchy of genres: from the “moods” of Isaac Levitan and the monumental silence of Arkhip Kuindzhi, the aerial perspective of Konstantin Kryzhitsky and the hushed power of Nikolai Dubovskoy, to the planetary horizon of Olga Sokolova, the geometry of Georgy Nissky, the tender minimalism of Andrei Mylnikov, and the fiery trail of the endlessly flying comet created by the art group Blue Soup.
